Brain/Body Connection
I specialize in Neurofeedback, which identifies brain dysregulation and then works to shift unhealthy brain patterns towards healthier and more regulated, less chaotic patterns. Neurofeedback tunes up the brain function. It’s efficiency and performance are increased. As regulation of the brain occurs, stability and control emerge.
Biofeedback allows people to learn self regulation of physiological functioning by using signals from their own bodies with the goal of improving their well being, health and performance. This includes respiration, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, skin conductance, and temperature. (*Inna Z. Khazan, PHD.)
These two sciences are woven together with improving aspects of personal lifestyles to achieve optimum benefit. This is the Brain/Body Connection.
“My clients are between 6 and 75 years old. They have one thing in common – brain issues.”
ADULTS
If you have tried talk therapy with limited or no improvement, you may be feeling frustrated or disappointed. . You may be very familiar with the terms ADD, ADHD, anxiety, depression and perhaps the medications that go hand in hand with those terms. Did you try them only to feel worse from side effects or to find the issue comes right back as soon as medicine stops?
You just want to feel better. Sleep better. Feel calmer. Pay attention longer. Clear the fog in your brain. Get rid of migraines. Stop being angry. Stop racing thoughts. Enjoy life instead of just existing in it. Maybe it’s time to start neurotherapy. With Neurofeedback, the issues with which you suffer daily, can be addressed at the root of the problem… your brain.
KIDS
Your kids may also suffer. Have they experienced trauma? Do they get in trouble in school for daydreaming or acting out impulsively? Maybe they are overwhelmed with their math worksheet. Is it a battle every day to get them to do something around the house? Are they constantly fighting with siblings or friends? Chances are, they don’t understand their behavior any more than you do. When assessed, these kids are likely to show they are functioning with a dysregulated brain.
How does Neurofeedback work?
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive form of therapy that works directly with the brain. A client, especially young clients, may even be unaware as to why they are coming in for therapy. Clients who have been traumatized do not need to be worried about re-telling their painful story. How is that possible? This is because Neurofeedback goes to a level much deeper than conscious awareness. It tackles the issues independent of the client’s opinions or attitudes. Changes are made at the most basic level of the brain.
Brain training equipment picks up information from sensors (HEG headset or electrodes) placed on your scalp or forehead about how your brain is performing and sends this information to a computer.
Brain Training EEG
Brain training software is told what specific changes you want to make in your brain’s behavior. It sets targets and provides you with feedback, such as music or video or games that start and stop depending on whether or not your brain is hitting its targets. Brain Training doesn’t teach tricks or techniques. Your brain changes itself. You don’t have to “think about” it or “try”. Your brain gets the feedback when you pay attention to it and moves in the desired direction.
